President's Message
Hello Everyone, and Happy May!

I hope everyone is having a great start to the Summer, and is finding lots of cool stuff while metal detecting. Since
the last newsletter my wife and I moved into our new home, and I finally graduated from the University of Utah with
a degree in Accounting. Also, while writing this my wife and I are traveling back from Florida after a week-long trip
in Disney World. As the Summer months continue, I'm looking forward also to the activities that we're going to have
as a club, like next month on June 9th and 10th we have our club sponsored Coin and Token Show! We will be looking
for volunteers at this week's club meeting for people to run ticket sales and booths. We will have more information on
this at this week's meeting. Also in June's meeting we are currently planning on having an auction night for anyone
who has tokens and coins that they would like to sell to others in the club. Then in August we will be having our
annual club picnic and metal detecting hunt. More info on both of these activities is coming.

I wanted to thank everyone that attended last month's meeting as we learned about all the ways French coinage
changed during the French Revolution. I found it fascinating how after the Revolution they used their own year
system. We really appreciate Drew and his willingness to share his knowledge on coin history. I am sure we will hear
from him again because of the positive feedback that I have received from everyone. This month I was in touch with
Chris at Covenant Treasures who agreed to come speak to us about how a private mint goes about designing, creating
dies, and stamping coins. I know this is something I have been very interested in for a long time as someone who
wants to design his own coins.

I would also like to thank everyone who submitted a club design this year! From my count we had at least ten designs
submitted, and every one of them was high quality and I know everyone put a lot of time into their submissions.
However, we were only able to choose a single design and I would like to congratulate Paul Green for creating this
years winning design! We should be including a copy of his design on this newsletter for anyone interested.

Since we have so many activities coming up in the next few months, I really hope to see everyone at the meeting this
week. Just as some final reminders, finds of the month are going on, and we have had very few submissions so any
submission has a high chance of winning. Membership dues are also due so if you haven't yet, you will want to
resubscribe for free admission to our coin show next month. Have a great week everyone and see you in a few days!
